Certum Trusted SSL Certificate

Certum SSLCertum Trusted SSL is an advanced Organization Validation (OV) SSL certificate, providing a high level of security and trust for users visiting websites. This certificate offers encryption based on the SHA-2 algorithm with a 256-bit key length, which guarantees protection against unauthorized access to sensitive data during transmission. Certum Trusted SSL supports both RSA and ECC algorithms, allowing the use of cryptographic keys with lengths of up to 4096-bit (RSA) and up to 384-bit (ECC). By supporting both of these solutions, the certificate allows for flexible selection of the encryption method depending on the specific needs of the infrastructure, combining a high level of security with efficiency in performance.

The validation process of the Certum Trusted SSL certificate is based on verifying the identity of the organization applying for the certificate, which provides a higher level of trust compared to Domain Validation (DV) certificates. OV verification includes both checking the legal information about the company in available registers and confirming its right to own the domain. In this context, this certificate is used not only to secure data transmission, but also to confirm the credibility of the entity. Additionally, wide compatibility with popular web browsers, operating systems and mobile devices makes Certum Trusted SSL a reliable and versatile solution. Certum Trusted SSL complies with global security standards, such as the requirements of web browsers and international regulations regarding public key infrastructure (PKI). The certificate also meets the EU eIDAS standards, making it suitable for companies operating in the European Union that must meet strict requirements for data protection and online transactions. Additionally, Certum Trusted SSL provides financial protection in the event of errors on the part of the certification center, which is an additional layer of security for companies relying on secure data transmission.

Using the Certum Trusted SSL certificate allows for full security of HTTPS connections and ensures that users visiting websites can be sure of the integrity and confidentiality of data.

Dynamic Secure Site Seal

Certum Site SealCertum Trusted SSL security seal is a visual sign that can be placed on a website to signal to visitors that the site is protected by an SSL certificate issued by Certum. This seal provides an additional element of trust building, as it confirms that the site uses advanced encryption and has passed the Organizational Verification (OV) process. The security seal works in real time, meaning that users can click on it to verify certificate details, such as the identity of the organization and the certificate expiry date. This is especially important for companies that want to emphasize their transparency and commitment to the security of user data. Visually, the Certum Trusted SSL seal includes the Certum logo and additional information about the site’s security status, allowing users to quickly recognize that they are on a trusted and protected site. Organization Validation (OV) SSL Certificate

SSL Certificate with Organization/Business Validation is a solution addressed to companies and organizations. Verification and validation is multi-stage. First step is to confirm rights to domain for which ssl certificate will be generated. This can be done in one of three ways – by confirming the verification link which will be sent via e-mail, by placing the “html” file on the server or by creating a TXT record, in the DNS domain zone, for which SSL certificate will be generated. In addition, due to the need to verify identity should be sent the identity document of the person applying for the SSL certificate, employment certificate or authorization granted to the applicant – only if the person is not the domain owner and paid domain account or domain owner’s statement about the applicant’s exclusive right to use the domain name – if the domain is not registered in the WHOIS database or the information in the database indicates that the applicant is not the owner of the domain Additionally, a phone verification (up to 48 hours) can be made to the company number in the public CEIDG, KRS, GUS, DUNS, etc. Whole verification procedure has been described in our Knowledgebase: Validation and verification for Certum Trusted SSL certificate.

Supported Browsers and Devices

The validation procedure for Certum Trusted SSL involves several steps to confirm the identity of the organization applying for the certificate and its right to own the domain. The process begins with the organization submitting an application, which must provide detailed information such as company name, registered office address, and contact details. Certum verifies this data using official business records to confirm that the company is legally registered and operates in accordance with applicable regulations. The next step is to verify domain ownership. The organization must prove that it has control over the domain for which the SSL certificate is to be issued. Verification can be done in several ways, including by sending a verification code to the email address associated with the domain or by making a specific change to the domain’s DNS settings. Alternatively, the organization can place a file with a unique name and content provided by Certum on the server of the verified domain, which will also confirm control over the domain. Once both the verification of the organizational data and the domain verification are successfully completed, Certum will proceed to issue the SSL certificate. The entire validation process typically takes from a few hours to a few days, depending on how quickly the organization provides the required information and documents. Certum’s technical support is available at every stage to help ensure the entire process runs smoothly. Once validation is complete and a certificate is issued, the organization can benefit from advanced security for its website, which includes both data encryption and identity authentication.
